Basic Info
Name:defaultstare
Bio
Name: Senju Hashirama

Series: Naruto

Age: Late thirties.

Gender: Male

Species: Human.

Sexuality Heterosexual. And married. Which means not interested.

Appearance: Standing at about average height, Hashirama is built like a fighter, and walks with the natural grace of a cat; his feet land exactly where he means them to, and he can balance on just about anything without trouble. He's not quite muscular enough to fill out his broad shoulders, but his arms are wiry and stronger than they look.

He has a dark tan, no facial scars and long black hair that reaches down past his shoulders. He wears it loose. Hashirama keeps a blank face most of the time, but he's affected by adrenaline and bloodlust like everyone else, and it shows when he's fighting a really good battle.

His usual attire consists of a set of red armor (something of a family-tradition). It's red, bulky, and tough enough to ward off most blows. It looks ridiculous, but dammed it if doesn't work. Under it, Hashirama has a black turtleneck shirt, mesh undershirt, loose black cargo-pants, and black sandals. Yeah, black is sort of a ninja thing. His forehead protector is just where the name suggests, a simple plate of metal baring the stylized leaf of Konohagakure no Sato. It is slightly dented.

Personality: Calm to the point of being creepy at times, there is little that truly fazes Hashirama anymore. He's seen enough gore and death to fill up several lifetimes, and fought his way to the top of the shinobi world in a time that would make the current situation seem tame. Introverted, though not truly shy, he dislikes pointless conflict, but won't hesitate to resort to violence if he sees the need to. If you are not from his clan, or from Konoha, then don't stand in his way; he will hurt you.

Hashirama's views are slightly old-fashioned, by current shinobi standards. He strongly believes that those who are powerful have a duty to protect their weaker comrades, and that there is no excuse for not being able to defend yourself, stressing loyalty to friends before loyalty to a cause. He will not hesitate to kill anyone who threatens his family or comrades, and, when presented with the option, will take hard blows if he thinks it would save them. Hashirama spent years as a mercenary, and as such, has a hard outlook on life and war. Though he doesn't enjoy conflict, part of him likes fighting, and those two sides will always be warring with each other.

In conversation, he's calm and polite, to the point that he often comes off as cold, but to those who know him, Hashirama has a dry sense of humor and an undying loyalty to his comrades. He cheats at poker and has an inate sense of curiosity that gets him into trouble more often than not. However, he can talk his way out of most problems, and hates sitting on the sidelines while others do the work. Hashirama likes to be right there, not just giving the orders. For a Hokage, that isn't really the best thing. Which is often bemoaned by the people attempting to guard him, and his family (notably his little brother).

Some people wonder if Hashirama does it just to annoy them.

Abilities: As the Sandaime-Hokage and leader of the Senju clan, he's a damn good shinobi in all the required areas; ninjutsu (elemental attacks), Taijutsu (hand-to-hand combat), and genjutsu (illusionary techniques). The technique that made him famous is the Mokuton, allowing him to create and manipulate wood with his chakra. He could also control the Tailed Demons with the jutsu, to the extent that he captured many and gave them out as gifts to other shinobi-leaders.

Hashirama is a weapons-expert, carrying a huge summoning-scroll on his back, from which he can call any weapon forth.

However, Hashirama has found he is unable to cast all but the simplest of jutsu; he cannot do the fancy, chakra-loaded overkill moves he used to be able to, and nor will he be able to summon or control any of the demons (including Big Mommy, should he ever attempt it). His summoning-scroll is gone. The only thing that has not suffered is his Taijutsu. Enemies be warned; he's a savage fighter in that area.

Socially, he's a good listener, and a better mediator. Very little fazes him. With almost natural leadership-skills, people listen when he speaks. He gives good, honest advice, and won't hesitate to give help to someone who needs it.

Weaknesses: In a word? His comrades. Hashirama can hold his own against most opponents, but he'll throw caution to the wind and run in blind if a teammate is in trouble. Utterly unafraid to die, and perhaps a bit masochistic, Hashirama wouldn't think twice about taking a hard blow for a comrade. He's gotten badly hurt doing that, and isn't always careful about guarding his back.

He doesn't deal well with betrayal, and doesn't expect it from his friends, despite his years as a mercenary.

Combat-wise, Hashirama is unfamiliar with modern weaponry. Guns are a bit beyond him. And, when it all comes down, Shodaime-Hokage or not, he's still human, and has the same failings. He bleeds, he breaks, he hurts, and he can die just as easily as anyone else.

Hashirama cannot cook to save his life. It's rather sad, actually.

Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider. And not happy about being pulled into it.

History: Senju Hashirama is the man who formed Konohagakure no Sato into the powerful shinobi village it is today. He pulled the shinobi clans in Fire Country together and, with the help of Uchiha Madara, united them under a single banner. The Village Hidden in the Leaves was formed. About fifty years later, there isn't a shinobi in the village who doesn't know him as the man who made it all happen.

However, most people don't know much beyond that.

Hashirama was born into the Senju clan, when shinobi were nothing more than wandering mercenary, selling their talents out for profit. He and his little brother, later to become the Nidaime (Second-Hokage) wormed their way up in the family, gaining reputations as strong, loyal fighters, and learning the skills that would make them renowned centuries after their respected deaths.

Without a Bloodline Limit, the Senju clan was a ragtag bunch of outsiders and loners—they fought hard and ruthless, and it made them feared and respected throughout their world. As mercenary, they were in high-demand. As shinobi, they were legends.

It was then that Hashirama met Uchiha Madara for the first time. The Uchiha were bitter enemies of the Senju, and warred for many years. Eventually, tired of the bloodshed and death, the Uchiha and the Senju formed an alliance, ending the fighting and forming Konoha. Neither Hashirama or Madara were in favor of it, but they bowed to their families and agreed.

Angry at what he saw as his clan's betrayal, Uchiha Madara left Konoha, intending to destroy it. Hashirama stopped him, and they fought on the place that would come to be known as the Valley of the End, ironically, the same spot where Naruto and Sasuke would fight years later. Hashirama was the winner, and Madara was believed to have died.

Hashirama was the undisputed leader of Konoha for several years, their first Hokage, or Lord Fire-Shadow.

He saw the birth of his first grandchild, Tsunade, later to become the Fifth Hokage, but the First Great Shinobi War broke out before he could see his second, Nawaki. Destined as all the Senju were to live and eventually die in battle, Hashirama was about to do that, until he ended up in Manhattan.
